New Video Highlights How Private Water Is Serving Arnold, Missouri
In new 30 second and 3 minute videos, Arnold, Missouri, Mayor Ron Counts describes the challenges his city had with outdated sewer infrastructure, including customers with raw sewage spilling into their yards. In the face of extreme budget constraints that did not allow for the problems to be fixed, the city turned to Missouri American Water. In 2014, Arnold voters overwhelmingly approved the sale, which Counts estimates has saved the city $9 million. Counts calls Arnold’s relationship with Missouri American “wonderful” and applauds the company for fulfilling all of its promises.
As part of the sale, Missouri American pledged to retain any employees who wanted to stay on with the new system operator. One of those employees, Mark Migneco, is thriving in his new position as an Operations Supervisor with Missouri American Water, loving the job so much that he is considering delaying retirement. Migneco notes,
“American Water has given us the resources to take care of these problems where we didn’t have it before.”
