Food & Water Watch Fact Checking 101

Food & Water Watch (FWW) is spreading deliberately misleading information about New Mexico House Bill (HB) 299, which would allow state and local governments to enter into long-term contracts with private companies to help with essential infrastructure projects.

We thought we would help FWW by correcting some of the inaccuracies in its latest campaign material.

Public-private partnerships are a proven mechanism to provide expertise and additional financing options to local communities facing urgent infrastructure challenges. By spreading so much misinformation about this bill, FWW is once again showing that it can’t be taken seriously as a trustworthy source of information on public-private partnerships or the record of the private water industry.
