Pants on Fire Alert: New TFTT Resource Calls Out the Many Ways ITPI Gets It Wrong
Earlier this year, an activist group, In the Public Interest (ITPI), published a so-called report that made many false and misleading claims about regulated, private water companies and the benefits that have come with Pennsylvania’s Act 12.
Trying to make regulated, private water companies into villains is not a new tactic of those opposed to the proven solutions NAWC member companies provide. But in their quest to do so, groups like ITPI completely misconstrue the rationale behind state water policies like Pennsylvania’s Act 12, which exists to help communities address urgent water and wastewater infrastructure needs often exacerbated by fiscal challenges. Further, they rely solely on misleading rate comparisons and ignore the importance of infrastructure investment.
Truth from the Tap’s latest resource provides a factcheck of this report and concludes that ITPI’s pants must be on fire with all the ways the group gets it completely wrong about private, regulated water companies.
