After decades of neglect and underinvestment, many water systems in communities across America require critical infrastructure investment. The costs and complexity of these projects are often too large for local governments to tackle on their own, so many turn to water companies for their expertise, experience, and access to capital. However, activists try to mislead communities into rejecting water company solutions for their water and wastewater systems using false claims and scare tactics without providing any real solutions. A new Truth from the Tap resource, titled Where are they now?, details five communities that were left much worse off after being misled by activist groups.
